The 'Bushmaster' Lite - Forged with Bog Oak
The 'Bushmaster', a sturdy outdoor companion incorporating the important aspects of a bushcraft knife; robust construction, a comfortable handle, full, tapered tang for strength and balance, a sharp spine for use with ferro rods, a spear point in line with the handle centre and a true convex scandi grind that has been hand finished. The latest iteration of this awesome Bushcraft tool.
This blade is hand forged from 26C3 carbon steel, with a Hamon. Using traditional Japanese Katana sword methods, the blade is differentially hardened which creates the Hamon. The Hamon line can be seen just coming out for the forge marks. Below the Hamon (at the edge), the steel is very hard, above the Hamon line it is softer, the bevel is also a convex 'scandi' grind. These attributes give the blade fantastic cutting performance and strength/toughness. Great for Bushcrafting!
Stabilized Bog Oak handle scales that is 2000 to 5000 years old, a mosaic pin up front, lanyard tube at the back. Stabilizing is a process whereby the natural wood is impregnated with a specialist resin which is then cured. This makes the wood harder, water resistant and a lot less likely to crack or warp. This Bushcraft tool comes in a custom fitted leather sheath that has been hand stitched, with toolwork and a dangler.
